LOCATION
Bucknell 2 miles; Clun 5 miles; Knighton; 6 miles; Ludlow 15 miles The cottages overlook a pretty courtyard together with the owner’s barn, giving you the opportunity to seek local information about the area if and when required. Countryside walks can be enjoyed from the door step, through woodlands, open farmland and to ancient hill forts, with many of our guests opting for their walk to the local Baron of Beef pub in Bucknell.
Nearby is the Welsh
market town of Knighton, home of the
Offa’s
Dyke Heritage Centre
and long
distance path. Ludlow with its harmonious mix of architecture and 11th
century castle provides the perfect backdrop to its famous Michelin star
restaurants, food fairs and various festivals, including its annual
Shakespearean inspired
Ludlow Festival. Also of interest is a visit to
Acton
Scott working farm as
featured in the recent BBC2 television series 'Victorian Farm' and
Stokesay
Court
which is a magnificent
late-Victorian mansion and featured as a primary location for the film
adaptation of Ian McEwan's novel "Atonement". If you decide to venture further a field, the larger towns of Shrewsbury and Hereford provide ample shopping opportunities. Those with a more historic interest will find the many National Trust properties appealing, and Ironbridge’s status as World Heritage Site a great family day out. Also Much Wenlock the Birth place of William Penny Brookes founding father of the Modern Olympic Games is worth a visit. All of this and many more opportunities are within an hours drive from Bryncalled Barns. Useful Links: www.shropshiretourism.info
